The KLC School Partnerships Story

1989, Cincinnati, Ohio—Our story begins when our organization opens its first before and after school program.

1998—The before and after school program becomes known as Champions.

We also initiated an industry-leading quality monitoring drive and a host of ongoing curriculum enhancements such as:

2003—Knowledge Learning Corporation (KLC) purchased our company, enhancing our service profile and boosting our quality to an unprecedented level.

Owner commitment
KLC brought with it the educational focus of its owners, Lowell and Michael Milken. Michael Milken, a leading philanthropist, co-founded the Milken Family Foundation with Lowell.

The Milken National Educator Awards, established in 1985 is the largest elementary and secondary school teacher-recognition program in the United States. Since its 1985 inception, over 2,000 outstanding educators and specialists in 48 states and the District of Columbia have received Milken Educator Awards of $25,000 each.

Over the last 20 years, the Foundation has presented gifts well over $50 million. The profound commitment of Lowell and Michael Milken gives our team tremendous self-assurance as we work to solve some of education's toughest challenges, including the addition of SES programming.

The Evolution of CHAMPIONS
For KLC School Partnerships, the name Champions began as the name of our before and after school curriculum. It was designed to inspire our school-agers to gear up for learning, fun, fitness, and character development.

Over the years, parents, children, and our school partners have seemed to associate Champions with our company identity. Ultimately, we decided to embrace this powerful name that is so in harmony with our company's spirit and goals. That's why for all the parents and children we serve and for the programs we offer, we are known as CHAMPIONS.
