Do-Right Crew Character-building Program
Cultivating Character and a Sense of Community
KLC School Partnerships Do-Right Crew character program focuses on building a child's sense of purpose that includes a connection to their families, to their community, and to the larger world; an ability to care about and empathize with others; and a spirit of courage and enthusiasm. Some of the key ways in which KLC School Partnerships nurtures character are:
- Community Involvement—Children participate in community activities, such as those with KLC School Partnerships' community partner, the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, food drives, community clean-up efforts, etc.
- Mentoring—Older program children mentor younger children through programs such as Reading Buddies, Homework Buddies, Acts of Kindness that Make a Difference, etc.
- Conflict Resolution—Positive conflict resolution skills are nurtured by establishing peer counselors, developing skills to appropriately manage anger, etc.
- Diversity—The value of diversity is emphasized through projects and community outreach activities, such as celebrating diverse family traditions, creating a multicultural cookbook, pen-pal projects with kids in other countries, etc.
- Family Involvement—Families participate in activities that strive to develop children's character and commitment levels, such as family reading challenges, family visit days, family game nights, tracking at-home chores, etc.
KLC School Partnerships works to coordinate behavior and community service goals with our schools partners' mission and goals. We reiterate school themes and provide training that helps support school objectives whenever possible.
