Setting Health and Fitness Goals
In keeping with national awareness and concern for unhealthy lifestyles among our nation's youth, we ramped up fitness levels in 2004 at KLC School Partnerships Champions Programs. Though we have included the Sports Zone since program inception, we began accelerating our emphasis on healthy eating and physical exercise as an important part of daily life.

KLC School Partnerships' staff incorporates fun daily fitness activities that focus on five major areas:
Staff step into the role of personal trainer, inspiring children to adopt healthy eating habits and maintain physical fitness as a life-long pursuit. |
The program includes both a preschool/kindergarten and school-age offering. Health/fitness initiatives are incorporated into each activity area or preschool/kindergarten learning center. Activities include:
- Guest speakers
- Health/fitness celebrations
- Healthy food tasting events
- Teacher-made equipment
- A variety of active games
Physical activity and nutrition are incorporated into every aspect of our program to help all children, even those not comfortable with sports and sports activities, feel comfortable with participating. We also maintain the critical element of choice by allowing children to choose whether or not they wish to participate. By going this route, we don't segment health/fitness activities but instead make them a part of overall learning.
